Labor &Postpartum Doula
What is a Doula?
The doula is a professional trained in childbirth who provides emotional, physical, and educational support to a mother who is expecting, is experiencing labor, or has recently given birth. Their purpose is to help women have a safe, memorable, and empowering birthing experience. Doulas empower birthing women to be advocates of their birthing experience and health.
Why do I need a Doula?
Doulas often use the power of touch and massage to reduce stress and anxiety during labor
Studies have shown that having a Labor Doula may make you less likely to have pain relief medication and less likely to have a cesarean birth
Postpartum Doulas can provide listening support to mothers and provide newborn care as well as teaching the family baby care
Postpartum Doulas also can do light house work while the family adjusts to having a new addition in the home
