Labor &Postpartum Doula

What is a Doula?

The doula is a professional trained in childbirth who provides emotional, physical, and educational support to a mother who is expecting, is experiencing labor, or has recently given birth. Their purpose is to help women have a safe, memorable, and empowering birthing experience. Doulas empower birthing women to be advocates of their birthing experience and health.

Why do I need a Doula?

  • Doulas often use the power of touch and massage to reduce stress and anxiety during labor

  • Studies have shown that having a Labor Doula may make you less likely to have pain relief medication and less likely to have a cesarean birth

  • Postpartum Doulas can provide listening support to mothers and provide newborn care as well as teaching the family baby care

  • Postpartum Doulas also can do light house work while the family adjusts to having a new addition in the home
